Re-architect main campus network to move routing functions out of the buildings and into the core switches.

Benefits:

This will simplify network configuration & management, improving availability, and is pre-requisite to enabling functionality needed to perform more comprehensive network intrusion detection, manage computer labs, perform  AV functions, and network security (including the ability to identify users named in DMCA violation notices).

Project Deliverables:

New network configuration in BDFs, IDFs, and Telecom building. Changes are all  within existing equipment.

No costs, except for on-site support from vendor if needed.

Issues/Risks:

Initial attempt (12/2007) failed. Working with vendor to identify the source of problem before another attempt can be made.
