UCMPrint Services: The UCMColor Print Queue

Introduction

The UCMColor print queue works just like the current black & white print queue service, UCMGlobal. Follow the simple setup process on your personal laptop or dektop and you can print from anywhere that you have internet access on campus. We have two public access color printers available on campus:on the 2nd floor of the Kolligian Library 255 and in the Computer Lab in the Social Science and Management Building 152. Just swipe your CatCard and choose the print jobs you would like to release.
Please note: We recommend using the UCMGlobal black & white print queue for the majority of your printing needs, as the per page cost of color printing is more expensive in order to offset the higher cost of supplies.

Service Details

Color printing services are available to UC Merced Students, Staff, Faculty, and Visitors through a centralized print queue, called UCMColor. The queue will be available from Computer Lab computers and can also be configured on your personal computer, but there is currently only two locations to retrieve your print jobs. The associated print fees are intended to recover the variable cost of the paper and toner supplies, and the cost to maintain the UCMPrint server software and card reader hardware. The UCMPrint solution is provided in an attempt to align with UC Merced's Sustainability efforts.

Sustainability Information

The Pharos Uniprint product that we have selected to administer our print queue, and the swipe, choose, and release solution that we have implemented, is part of our efforts to reduce paper waste from unclaimed or lost print jobs. By only printing jobs that have been selected by the person swiping their card, we ensure that the person will be at the printer to collect their documents, and give them the opportunity to cancel any print jobs that they may no longer wish to print.
