[Reported 08/04/2009 04:43 PM] -- UC Merced Calendar Service will be unavailable

The calendar service will be unavailable during two periods: 8/4/09 from 7 PM to 9 PM, and 8/5/09 from 7 PM to 1 AM. Email will also be unavailable to Outlook users that have the Oracle Connector installed. This upgrade is the same as the one originally scheduled in early July, but which we had to abandon due to hardware issues. After the upgrade is completed on 8/5, we will be running a more current version of the calendar application. We expect this to resolve a number of issues that users have reported, and anticipate that the concurrent reorganization of the calendar database wil result in performance improvements. Of concern to PDA users who are using applications that connect directly to the calendar server, we have tested the new level of the software with the Todo+Cal application for the iPhone and the version of Synthesis AG SyncML for Mobile Windows-based devices that a small number of users have been experimenting with. Those versions do function with the new software, but we will in the near future be announcing official support for the Todo+Cal application and the newer version of SyncML which requires the newer level of the calendar application. Please contact the IT Help Desk with any issues or concerns (helpdesk@ucmerced.edu and 228-HELP).

[Resolved on 08/06/2009 08:08 AM]

The calendar has been successfully upgraded.
