Staff and faculty who own applications on the ucmerced.edu domain.
When submitting the request please include the following information:
- Domain name of the application that needs an SSL certificate.
- Provide a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) by pasting it into the “Request Details” section or add it as an attachment.
- The length of time for the certificate (1 to 3 years).
A Certificate Signing Request (CSR) is submitted to the InCommon certificate authority for signing. Instructions for generating a CSR are platform dependent – if you need help generating a CSR please request assistance when opening your service request.
Before issuing a new certificate, the UCM Information Security team will scan your server to ensure the SSL/TLS settings are secure and configured according to best practices. If this scan indicates issues with the configuration, they must be remediated before the certificate will be issued.
Upon completion, the issued certificate will be emailed to you.
Certificates can be generated for a period of 1-3 years. Application owners are responsible for requesting certificate renewals. Assistance with generating CSRs and installing certificates are provided on a best-effort basis.
Within 3 business days.
If SSL/TLS configuration issues are discovered on your server, they must be remediated before the certificate is issued and will impact the 3 business day turnaround time.
Use the ‘Request Service’ button and indicate that you would like to change or stop the service in the ‘Description’ section of the form.
Certificates are provided for ucmerced.edu hosts free of charge.
