Remote Access

Column definitions

High Speed Services

Areas where DSL or wireless services are available; ISDN not included.

Allow Send

Some ISPs block sending e-mail using the GUMAIL outgoing mail service. This requires configuring your e-mail client to use the ISP's mail server, and is very inconvenient for laptops that are sometimes used on campus and sometimes used at home or while traveling.

Dial-Up Coverage

Areas with local access numbers. Potential per minute charges in some cases.

Dial-Up Configuration

"Standard dialer" means that the only required set-up is to configure the standard Windows or Mac OS dialer with the appropriate parameters and phone number. IT has sample configurations and can assist with problems. We are unable to provide in-depth support for ISP's that require special software interfaces or require special network settings. Also, please note that DSL, wireless, and ISDN connections require special hardware and configurations -- only the service provider can assist in setting up access and resolving problems.
