UC Merced Information Technology Help Desk
The UC Merced Information Technology (UCMIT) Help Desk provides UC Merced faculty, staff and students with information and technical support for computer hardware, software, peripherals, mobile devices and many other technology related devices and services. The IT Help Desk is the first step in obtaining support; whether it is for UCMNetID password resets, email setup and configurations, computer hardware failures, classroom technology questions or any other IT related issues.
Requesting Support
During normal business hours, you may request support by contacting the Main IT Help Desk via phone at 209.228.HELP (4357), walk-in to the IT helpdesk located in COB 132A or email us at helpdesk@ucmerced.edu.
When you contact helpdesk, we will enter your request for support into our tracking system. We will ask for your name, UCMNetID and a summary of your request for assistance. Additional information may be required depending on the type of support requested. Your request will then be assigned a unique tracking number, a work order number, that our staff will use to track your request and document information related to the problem and solution. Even if we are able to resolve your request immediately, creating a new work order helps us document the types of requests for assistance we receive and to provide even better support in the future.
Work Order Status
Information Technology's Work Order Web system allows you to view your current and past work orders online, giving you greater access to the latest information available regarding the status of your work orders. Once you've contacted the IT Help Desk to create a work order for your support request, you'll be able to view status updates through the UC Merced Portal. You will also receive regular emails each time your work order is updated.
