CatCast – Lecture Capture and Live Streaming

DESCRIPTION:

Lecture capture and streaming services provided through CatCast provides instructors or presenters the ability to offer live broadcasting of a lecture or event. On demand viewing/streaming is also available so users can view pre-recorded lectures or events anytime.

What do I need to get this service?

You must be an active faculty or staff making the request.


What is included?

OIT Academic and Emerging Technologies will set up CatCast which can capture and stream the following activity types:

  1. Lectures (Requested by the instructor)
  2. Guest Speakers/Lectures
  3. Special Events (Requested by the event coordinator)

Video capture technology is pre-installed in COB 102 (Lakireddy Auditorium) and COB 105. Other locations on campus may be serviced with the use of a mobile CatCast system.


When is support for this service available?

Support for this service is provided during standard operating hours: 8:00 a.m.-5:00p.m., Monday through Friday.

How long does it take to get the service?

Instructional Courses: Instructors should plan at least four weeks prior to the start of the semester. We do not take requests to capture courses for individual students.

Research, Administrative, and Special Events: Five working days advance notice is required for video capture and streaming requests. OIT Academic and Emerging Technology will make efforts to accommodate requests with less notice, but will evaluate these requests on a case-by-case basis.
