This service is available to all active UC Merced faculty and staff with a UCMNetID.
Academic Technology provides video conferencing for our supported venues covering the following activity types:
- Distance Learning
- Research and Collaborations
- Administrative (Requested by a UCM staff member)
- Special Events
As part of our services, OIT will establish a mandatory test call prior to the date of the conference to ensure a trouble free connection.
1 – 3 business days is considered to be the standard for providing services, but the days can be changed as applicable to the particular service.
We receive video conference requests from the instructional coordinators in the school who evaluate and consider the impacts to curriculum delivery four weeks prior to the start of the semester. We do not take requests to video conference courses for individual students.
Research, Administrative, and Special Events
Ten working days advance notice is required for research, administrative and special events video conference requests. Academic Technology will make efforts to accommodate requests with less notice, but will evaluate these requests on a case-by-case basis.
There are no costs associated with this service.

Video conference arrangement in various locations on campus is also available with the use of a mobile video conference cart.
