The Committee on Research Computing (CORC) oversees the operation, maintenance and upgrades to the MERCED Cluster. Formed in 2016 and co-chaired by Assoc. Professors Suzanne Sindi and Hrant Hratchian, CORC is comprised of faculty representatives from all three schools: School of Natural Sciences; School of Engineering; and Social Sciences, Humanities and the Arts (SSHA). The committee also advocates for research computing support on campus through its efforts to establish a common facility on campus for high-performance computing, high-speed networking and visualization.
The Wide Area Visualization Environment (WAVE) is the main visualization center on campus and has its own steering committee, which works closely with CORC to coordinate joint efforts and advocate for the inclusion of visualization capabilities as a core competency for the campus.
