Zoom - HIPAA License

UC Merced provides Zoom licenses for Web Conferencing to faculty, staff and students. All Zoom meetings are encrypted under the standard UC Merced site license.

Users requiring a HIPAA compliant account for healthcare, counseling or research purposes can request to be added to a sub-account under the UC Merced site license. This license type (called a BAA account) applies additional security features including restrictions on cloud recording and limited reporting information

What do I need to get this service?
  • Be a current faculty or staff with an active UCMNetID. As with regular Zoom accounts, SSO and 2FA are required to login.
  • Click the Request button above to complete a request form.
What is included?

Addition to the BAA sub-account with HIPAA compliance features.

When is support for this service available?

Use these links to the Zoom Help Center or  Tutorials & Training 24/7 to access useful documentation for using functions or troubleshooting issues.

For all other inquiries, the OIT Service Desk is available during standard operating hours: 8:00 a.m.-5:00p.m., Monday through Friday. If direct assistance from Zoom is needed, AET will submit a ticket on behalf of the campus user. For assistance creating or facilitating a Zoom call with in-person support, 48 hour notice is required.

How long does it take to get this service?

Once the request is received, the user will be contacted to set up a short Zoom meeting to complete the process. Please note that moving from a campus regular account to a BAA account can cause the loss of any current and recurring meetings that were previously scheduled.

How do I stop or change this service?

Zoom accounts remain active as long as you are with UC Merced as a currently employed faculty or staff or an attending student. Your account will be disabled when you leave the University.

This service is funded as an enterprise service for campus-wide use and there is no cost directly to users.
