Anti-Virus Software


OIT provides anti-virus software for all UC Merced staff, faculty, and students. This ensures the safety of the network and computers from malicious activity.

What do I need to get this service?

An active faculty, staff and graduate student with a UCMNetID.

What is included?

Access and instructions to install anti virus software. Self help installation guides and software downloads are listed below. Software updates are automatic and include both spyware and virus protection.

When is support available for this service?

Access to the software and installation instructions are available 24×7. For suspected virus issues or technical support, contact the OIT Service Desk – standard operating hours: 8:00 a.m.-5:00p.m., Monday through Friday.

How long does it take to get the service?


How do I stop or change the service?

On personal computers, go into your operating system services to remove the software. For all UC Merced-owned computers and laptops, the service is centrally managed and cannot be changed or removed.


Software is provided free of charge to UC Merced students, faculty, and staff.

Additional Information

In the event that you suspect a system is infected and the infection causes the system to send illegal network traffic, the machines MAC address may be blocked by until the system has been cleaned. Desktop support guidelines
