Research Software Installation (Server and Cluster)


You may request help in installing academic or commercial software that is properly licensed on Research Computing-managed servers or clusters. For installations on the MERCED Cluster, users may install software in their home directories without prior permission. For global installation on the MERCED Cluster (e.g. access to the software for multiple users), installation on other servers or clusters, or for help in installing software on Research Computing-managed systems, users may request this service via this form.

What do I need to get this service?

Faculty, staff or students with an account on the cluster/server on which the software needs to be installed. User needs to provide software, license key and server credentials for installation. OIT may sets up license manager for active students, faculty, and staff who have a need for floating licenses for academic or commercial software used in research.

What is included?

Assistance in person or remotely to complete installation of research-related software, including software to control floating licenses (e.g. License manager software). License manager installs are for purchased or source software which have been reviewed and approved by Procurement.

When is support for this service available?

Support for this service is provided during standard operating hours: 8:00 a.m .- 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

How long does it take to get the service?

10-15 business days. Some software installation can be complex. If you need help, please understand that it can take up to 15 business days to complete the installation.

How do I stop or change the service?

Contact the OIT Service Desk with your ticket number cancel your request.
