Service and Affiliate/Guest Account Management (IDM)


OIT provides department institutional proprietors access to the IDM tool for the creation and modification of Service and Affiliate accounts. Please read though the following for a review of the different types of accounts and services provide in support of management accounts.

Service Accounts: A Service Account is a special UCMNetID account that an application or individual uses to interact with a system or end-users to deliver services, access services, or communicate about services. As Service Accounts may enable access to sensitive data and online resources, they must be managed as a university digital asset by authorized individuals and renewed annually.

Affiliate Accounts: An Affiliate Account is provided to individuals performing work for UC Merced but who will not be entered into Payroll. Affiliate Accounts must have an UC Merced Sponsor responsible for insuring the Affiliate remains in good standing. A UC Merced Sponsor must be an active Staff or Faculty. Access to UCM online resources is a privilege and has compliance, security, and financial impact to the university, thus Affiliate Accounts must be renewed annually.

What do I need to get this service?

This self-service is initiated by your department institutional proprietor. Please contact your department with your request. Department institutional proprietors are to utilize the IDM tool to process Service and Affiliate Account requests. Please use the self-service button to access the IDM tool.

What is included?

The creation of a Service or Affiliate Account for your department, working group, club, etc.,

When is support for this service available?

Support for this service is provided during standard operating hours: 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Please contact the OIT Service Desk.

How long does it take to get the service?

This service is available 24x7 for account creations, changes to accounts, extensions to affiliate accounts, etc.

How do I stop or change the service?

Department institutional proprietor will use the IDM tool to manage Service and Affiliate accounts. Please contact your department proprietor with your request.
