Surveys (Qualtrics)


The Qualtrics survey tool allows for the creation and administration of surveys, management of survey data, and production of survey reports. This service includes online training and technical support provided by Qualtrics. Additionally, consultation and guidance from the campus Survey Coordinating Committee and Institutional Research and Decision Support (IRDS) is available for survey requirements and policies, including compliance with FERPA and the IRB.

What do I need to get this service?

Click “Self Service” to create an account.  You will need to provide your UC Merced email address and password and authenticate using through Single Sign On using 2FA. This service is available to all UC Merced students, faculty, and staff, with a need that is tied to advancing the University mission.

What is included?

By logging into Qualtrics, you will receive:

  • An account on the Qualtrics survey system, which allows for online survey creation, administration, and reporting.
  • Unlimited support from Qualtrics via their support website. Please note that you must login to the support portal to receive support – instructions provided below.
  • Free training provided through step-by-step instructions pages and on-demand courses.
When is support for this service available?

NOTE: OIT does not provide direct support to this service, however Qualtrics offers 24x7 support to UC Merced students, faculty, and staff. 

Qualtrics support is available 24×7 via their support website. To access support first click “LOGIN” on the support website and then follow the instructions on this webpage to login with your Organization ID. When prompted to enter your Organization ID, enter “ucmerced”.

How long does it take to get the service?

Qualtrics is available immediately through the Self Service button above.

How do I stop or change the service?

Qualtrics is funded as an enterprise service for campus-wide use and there is no direct cost to end-users. However, getting access to integrations or add on features (e.g., SMS Distributions, Offline App) are not currently provided with the UC Merced enterprise Qualtrics license and require that you pay additional fees to Qualtrics directly. Qualtrics is solely responsible for the management of add-ons and integrations and will coordinate with the user directly regarding their purchase and activation. UC Merced OIT and the campus Brand Manager are not responsible for this process. To inquire about integrations or additional features, contact Qualtrics support.
