Academic and Emerging Technology provides special event support and Audio / Visual tools for faculty, staff and students.

Event Support

AET can provide users with a full range of capabilities including full motion interactivity, clear audio, send video and data simultaneously (PC and Mac) and transmit document video camera signals displaying 3-D objects, hard copy, and transparencies. Our extensive experience in live sound and video production enables us to help you deliver a professional event experience for your audience.

We can work directly with you to determine your needs for events that may require professional sound, presentation support, video or any other special event technical needs. AV Equipment Checkout

OIT provides loaner AV equipment to current faculty and staff. Equipment available for checkout includes projector, screen, and speakers.

 Zoom Audio and Video Conferencing

As an online communication and collaboration tool, Zoom provides video, web, and audio conferencing (both device-based and phone) capabilities. Additional features include the ability to create instant meetings, record and download conference sessions, schedule Zoom meetings through o365 (Outlook), share your screen with others, annotate notes in real-time and send chat messages privately and to the entire online group.

Zoom is centrally funded by the Office of Information Technology and is available for business and instructional use by all current UC Merced faculty and staff.

Web conferences can range from simple computer audio or video chats between two users with webcams to large-scale meetings connecting a hundred people in different locations.
