PMO Vision

We seek to:

  • Champion consistent project management practices by promoting a project management culture where: 

    • Customers reap the benefit of a carefully planned investment. 

    • Project success is the norm. 

    • Project teams are proud of their work.

  • Provide support and guidance across the organization for UC Merced’s project-related needs.   
  • Objectively assess, analyze, recommend solutions, and collaborate closely with stakeholders. Become a resource center by providing tools, templates, and best practices to complete project work. 

  • Mentor, train, and guide the UCM’s project teams and community as they learn and then adopt PM best practices in their projects.


Our People

We are project management professionals whose passion is assisting our campus partners in improving business processes or finding or building the technologies needed to serve our community.  All our team members are Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certified and equipped to lead quality and process improvement initiatives. Chioma Ndubuisi

Director, Project Management Office

Chioma is an adept and adaptive leader of UC Merced's Project Management Office. She has directed and implemented complex multi-million dollar projects successfully in multi-disciplinary environments for business units and information technology. Her portfolio of professional accomplishments is both in the public and private sectors. A Project Management Professional (PMP), Chioma brings a depth of knowledge on successful project delivery and change management dynamics. Her capacity to fit into a wide range of environments aides her in forging solid relationships with partners and building consensus across multiple organizational levels focused on the achievement of operational excellence.

In addition, her passion for volunteering facilitates opportunities to give women and girls alternatives for living a life of meaning with awareness of choices. Chioma strongly believes in assisting others to actualize their potential and has mentored a variety of people at various levels of accomplishments.

 

Seema Ahuja

Project Manager

Seema has over 18 years of experience in higher education—14 with the UC Merced Office of Information Technology. She began her IT career as an Oracle Database Administrator and then moved into the role of the Student Information System (SIS) Administrator and finally evolved into a Project Manager. In her role as a Project Manager at UC Merced, Seema has led multiple large complex projects like SIS upgrades, Electronic Document Management System Implementation and Admissions Review Systems for both Graduate and Undergraduate Admissions.

Seema’s education includes a Masters in Economics and a Masters in Information Technology. She is also a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. Her philosophy to leading her project team is to ensure that everyone on the team has a voice and that voice is heard. To quote George S. Patton “If everyone is thinking alike, someone isn’t thinking.”

 

Jose Magana

Project Manager

Jose Magana joined the UC Merced Office of Information Technology in 2014 as Project Manager. Jose is a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and his experience includes roles as a Business Analyst, Associate Systems Manager, Change Management Manager, User Service Manager, Client Data Computing Support. Prior to joining UC Merced in May of 2001, he was employed at Robert Half International as Service Desk Technician.

 

Melissa Tessier

Project Manager

Melissa is an experienced senior Information Technology Project Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education and banking industries. She is skilled in software documentation, Visio, business process improvement, integration, and requirements analysis. Melissa is a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, and graduated with an MBA and a BA in Information Systems from Azusa Pacific University.
