PROJECT OVERVIEW
The AWS Migration project will formalize the Amazon Web Service (AWS) offering and migrate existing systems hosted at UC Berkeley to AWS as part of the OIT Cloud First Strategy.
PROJECT IMPACT
- Align with UC Merced’s Cloud First Strategy
- Cost Reduction & Risk Avoidance
- Become part of the higher education community utilizing this service with efficiencies shared across campus for maintenance and support of the product.
Current State
Today, existing core systems hosted at UC Berkeley is a tactical solution that can cause issues. This move aligns with OIT strategic Cloud First goal and establishes Amazon Web Services (AWS) as our preferred Cloud First provider.
Future State
UC Merced Services hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Provide geographic and technological diversity between services housed on-premise and services hosted in the cloud.
