The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is planning a major wireless network upgrade to improve user experience and network reliability. The upgrade will take place on the main UC Merced campus over two weekends in August, scheduled as follows:
Phase 1: Friday, August 9, 5:30 p.m. - Monday, August 12, 7:00 a.m.
Phase 2: Friday, August 16, 5:30 p.m. - Monday, August 19, 7:00 a.m.
This work will result in a complete wireless network outage for affected campus buildings (though the campus wired network will be functioning as normal during all upgrade activity).
During phase 1, buildings north of the Scholar's Lane bridge will be without wireless connectivity. During phase 2, buildings south of the Scholar's Lane bridge will be without wireless connectivity. Refer to the map (right) for more information.
We understand that any outage of the campus wireless network is problematic for our campus users, and we've done our best to pick a time period that will have the smallest impact on campus activities. We don't expect that these outages should cause any major disruptions to campus business, but if you have questions or concerns, please email us and let us know.
We appreciate your patience as we work to create a faster, more responsive wireless experience for all of campus!
