FireEye HX Replaces Sophos Antivirus at UC Merced

March 31, 2021

Take Action to Protect Your Data Now!

This spring, UC Merced is retiring our Sophos Anti-Virus solution and replacing it with FireEye HX.

FireEye HX, which has been deployed as the standard AV software throughout the UC system for the past few years, is a next generation anti-malware/anti-virus/anti-Intrusion software—strong, nimble, and able to adapt and change to defeat threats even before they become an issue.

FireEye HX is free to all UC Merced staff and faculty.

How does this change affect me?

The UC Merced Sophos license will expire soon and your system will stop getting updates, which means that your system and your data will no longer be protected.

What do I need to do?

To keep your system and your data secure, please uninstall Sophos and install FireEye HX. Our OIT Cybersecurity team have developed some easy how-to documents to help you through these processes.
