Normal Service Closure
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) Service Desk, Classroom Support, and Event Support will be closed from Friday, Dec. 22 at noon through Tuesday, Jan. 2. We will reopen for typical campus support on Wednesday, Jan. 3.
Though our offices will be closed during this period, OIT always has someone on call for campus emergencies. To report major campus issues or problems, you can call 228-HELP (4357) and select option 3. In the case of an emergency, we will communicate with the campus via the OIT System Status page, which is accessible from the main page of the IT website.
Scheduled Power Outages
In coordination with Facilities Management, the following OIT managed services will be suspended in anticipation of and during the power outage scheduled during the break.
Networking equipment in all buildings scheduled for sustained periods of electrical outages and closure will be powered down beginning Tuesday, December 26th, with anticipation of all equipment being powered down by the end of the day. Equipment will be powered on and tested beginning December 29th and we anticipate full restoration of services by the end of the day. All wired, wireless, and internet access in the affected buildings will be unavailable during this period. Buildings experiencing only intermittent power loss will remain online, but services could be unavailable during those brief periods.
Audio/Visual equipment in all North Campus buildings will be powered down beginning on Monday December 18, with complete power down by Friday December 22nd. Equipment will be powered on and tested beginning Wednesday, January 3rd, with work continuing in anticipation of full restoration no later than Monday, January 8th.
Please take whatever steps are necessary to prepare for any impact this may have on your activities in these buildings during these periods.

Planned Network Maintenance
On December 29th, OIT will be performing major network maintenance from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. If you are on campus during this period: please be aware that the entire campus wired and wireless network will be unavailable for the maintenance window. If you are not on campus during this period: please be aware that VPN access and UC Merced services that require Single Sign-On (SSO) will be unavailable during the maintenance window.
