The boom in AI tools, especially generative AI, presents many exciting opportunities for UC Merced and the communities we serve. Higher education is at the hub of the AI revolution: AI research, new research fields and methods enabled by AI, changes in pedagogy, enhancements to productivity – each of us will feel the profound effects of this emerging technology soon if we haven’t already.
In order to best utilize this opportunity, a cross-campus partnership has put together a repository of tools, resources, news, and engagement opportunities for the Bobcat community - ai.ucmerced.edu. This site, which will be built out over time, is intended to collect and amplify the innovative applications of AI happening across campus and connect you with a suite of tools and applications that have been reviewed and approved for use with various types of institutional data. I encourage you to begin your exploration with these centrally supported tools, which we are working to expand as quickly as possible.
We invite your feedback and participation as we work to establish formal and informal channels of collaboration on AI-related topics.
