Job Description: In this position, students will build professional communication skills as they work to produce digital content to support OIT communications, education initiatives and campaigns. This will often require writing or editing promotional or informational copy, creating graphics and video, and developing content for OIT's social media and communication channels. Other assignments will likely include: • Updating websites, UC Merced Connect, and other digital properties. • Creating internal and external documentation for OIT processes. • Participating in outreach/marketing activities and events on and off campus. • Conducting interviews, documenting processes, and researching technologies. • Completing other general tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication and active listening skills
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Strong creative skills and the intellectual curiosity to develop new content, pitch ideas, and learn things you don't know
- Comfortable with working on multiple projects simultaneously
- Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Comfortable working with staff and faculty as well as students
- Strong time management skills, organizational skills, punctuality, and attention to detail are critical
- Technical familiarity with social media principals, video or image editing, and/or website content management systems is preferred
